St. John's finally found a way to win a Big East road game.

D. J. Kennedy made a pair of free throws with 12 seconds left to lift the Red Storm to a 69-68 win last night over Notre Dame, which was playing without injured Luke Harangody, who is third in the nation in scoring.

St. John's coach Norm Roberts said the Red Storm (14-10, 4-8), who had lost five in a row before beating Louisville 74-55 on Thursday, persevered.

"This league is unreal. It's unreal how hard it is. I think our guys have been through some tough battles and we're fighting back," he said. "We're coming closer together as a team. I was really happy for them because they've really been working hard."
