D.J. Kennedy looked up toward the rafters of the Garden Saturday to get a look at the scoreboard. Then he gazed to the floor and shook his head. The St. John's junior was the picture of frustration.
The Red Storm suffered another aggravating Big East loss Saturday, falling to 12th-ranked Pittsburgh, 71-64, before 6,892. The Johnnies spent the entire second half trying to cut into the Panthers' lead and just couldn't do so. They never got it down to a one-possession game.
Perhaps even more frustrating is the big picture on this season. It was supposed to be a breakthrough year for St. John's, one in which AD Chris Monasch said the expectation was to reach the NCAA Tournament. But with two road games remaining in the regular season - at Syracuse and DePaul - the Red Storm still hasn't equaled its six conference wins from a season ago.
