New York -- If there's a team remaining in the Big East Tournament right now that plays as hard for 40 minutes and maximizes its talent as well as the Marquette Golden Eagles, it's probably the St. John's Red Storm.
And, as luck would have it, the two teams will face off in a second-round game at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday around 1:15 p.m. Central.
St. John's (17-14), seeded 13th coming in, advanced by absolutely pummeling 12th-seeded Connecticut, 73-51, on Tuesday afternoon. The effort turned in by both teams couldn't have been more different, with the Huskies, their fleeting NCAA tournament hopes on the line, seemingly not even wanting to be there and the Red Storm dictating the action from the outset.
