BTW, I think the Big East was actually quite weak.  Take a look at all the points teams put up - that could be great offensive performances, but I think it also owes to mediocre defenses.  It wasn't the defensive Big East of old.

The NCAA tourney pretty much proved the Big East was overhyped.  I think it was a down year for college basketball overall, but I don't think the BE was nearly as strong as some made it out to be.  T

When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

To be completely honest I'm not even convinced that he turned us down. All we've heard about is sources. It started with one person reporting it, then every other media outlet ran with it as confirmed. With all the nonsense that's happened the past few days with the media I'm not convinced about anything until I hear it straight from a coach's mouth. I wouldn't be the least bit shocked if Hewitt is our coach next year.

And when he gets fired, he will make 7 million dollars and won't have to coach ever again.

If he indeed turned it down and dependent upon the final offer from STJ, his judgement may be worse than even I expected. The man was booed at Georgia Tech this year with a team that included a pair of potential lottery picks. He's got a weak recruiting class and will lose 4 of his 6 top scorers off of a 7-9 ACC team.

His contract is pretty lucrative at G-Tech though.

if its true, then its a family issue...if his wife and daughters really dont wanna leave the area, then hes just being a good husband and a good father and doing whats best for his family and not for himself...we cant argue against that

Exactly.  STJ was going to take care of him financially, such that the $7 million would have been made up over time.  Plus he'd have had job secuirty.  Now he's going to spend one miserable year in Atlanta and will have to move his family in any event.
