From ESPN insider :
http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/features/rumors?date=20100506St. John's landed its first major recruit of the Steve Lavin era when Dwayne Polee, Jr. committed to play for the Red Storm, choosing the Johnnies over his other finalists Georgia and Oregon.
Polee is a 6-foot-7 small forward prospect out of California who is known for his athleticism and ability to throw down electrifying dunks. He is still raw in certain areas, and needs to work on his shooting, but he is the type of player who would seem to be capable of having an immediate impact.
So how much will he play? It's hard to read at this point, given that St. John's returns all five of its starters and several pivotal bench players. It would be shocking if Polee doesn't make it into Lavin's rotation based on talent alone, and considering the fact that he is the coach's first recruit, it's not unreasonable to think he'll have a chance to earn a starting job by the time the Red Storm's season starts.
The Johnnies will be able to use Polee in the same mold as D.J. Kennedy or (before he was injured) Anthony Mason Jr. -- someone who can quickly get up and down the floor and fill the passing lanes. One aspect of his game that Polee needs to improve on is his rebounding. With his long arms, he should be able to fervently attack the glass, but there were times when his rebounding was inconsistent as a prep. SJU finished in the middle of the pack in rebounding in Big East play last season, so if Polee can help them in that area it will be harder for Lavin to keep him off the floor.
With the first key recruit in place, we'll have to see how many more Lavin can bring in.

Dwayne Polee
"Polee is a high major athlete that can run and jump with the best of them and is a big time finisher in transition, but he lacks the consistency of an outside shot that will help open driving lanes to the basket. He has a nice handle in the open floor and is a long strider that covers a lot of ground in a hurry. He is long and athletic enough to be a very good defender if he puts his mind to it and could be an excellent addition to a team that utilizes a pressing system. As a wing player he needs to more active on the glass on both ends."
