Kadeem Jack ’11 – South Kent (CT) – The defensive minded big man was named MVP of the Hoop Group All-Star Game and has improved his game on all levels over the past few months. His recruiting has picked up from that. “St. John’s, Rutgers, Memphis, Xavier, Miami, UConn, West Virginia, Arkansas and Arizona” have all offered Kadeem. He is also receiving major interest from “Texas, Kansas and Kansas State,” although they have not offered yet. The South Kent bound post-grad is excited to go to the Connecticut school in September. That is also the same month he plans to make his decision on a school. “I hope to commit after the summer,” said Jack. “I want to commit in September and probably will.” Jack played well this week despite his team losing to his future teammates at South Kent, Harkless and Derrick Randall, in an early round game.

“Every game is going to be exciting,” said Jack, who is being courted by Kansas State, North Carolina, Kentucky, Texas and St. John's, among others. “One game he’ll do something, next game I will.”

Kadeem Jack - Now that he is for sure headed to prep school Jack is comfortable and back with the New York Gauchos on the circuit. Playing with his usual team, Jack is looking great. He is blocking shots, scoring off the bounce, using his athleticism to its fullest, and also displaying good footwork. He is a skilled power forward who can use versatility to get it done on both ends of the floor. Schools are coming in hot and heavy for Jack, and clearly he is becoming one of the premier unsigned big men in the 2011 class.

Kadeem Jack - The class of 2011 power forward just continues to get better each and every time out on the floor. Jack not only scores inside with length and athleticism, but now he is facing the rim and taking his man off the dribble with ease. He was attacking the rim, controlling the glass, and blocking shots on Wednesday for the New York Gauchos. His play on the inside has changed the team in this tournament.

I can see why new schools keep on popping up on Kadeem Jack’s list. He has added muscle to his 6-foot-9 frame, you can see the maturating in his offensive game – particularly his jump shot – and his mobility is better than it was during the high-school season. That being said, he still lacks much of a back-to-the-basket game. By this time next year, after a season at South Kent (Conn.), the former Rice standout will be flat-out scary.

If he really does cut his list tomorrow and commit soon then doesn't that put us out of contention because I would have a tough time believing he would commit to a school that he's not sure he can play at.

So what's the word with Kadeem? Is he allowed to play here?

No one's challenged the rule to find out what loopholes there are.  But probably not - Hicks was his high school and AAU coach.

Not really a surprise since Hicks is aboard.

Kadeem Jack, one of seven Rutgers commits for 2011, has left the South Kent (Conn.) school and is back home in New York.

They are more than one good player away from the CBI. He should stay where he is.

South Kent is going to be better than Rutgers.
