BE assistant coaches making news

Apparently long time UCONN assistant and former player for Calhoun at Northeastern Andre LaFleur is bolting for Providence.  Wow!!!  Not at the level of Skerry leaving PC for Pitt last year but still very interesting.  Leaving for another conference school and leaving a school you have been with for 9 years.  Perhaps he sees the Calhoun writing on the wall.

Speaking of Skerry, his spot at Pitt apparently is being offered to former Duquesne assistant and the former HC of ND Prep and current assistant at Marshall Bill Barton.  Interestingly, Barton works for former Pitt assistant Tom Herrion.  Who replaced Herrion at Pitt last year?  Skerry.

Feel free to move this Dave if you feel this is needs to be in a different forum.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Barry take some time off.

Although there are so many high major staff openings.   Florida still has an opening, Pitino has 2 at Louisville, Matt Painter has 2 at Purdue, Calhoun has one.

This move is very telling. Either things are going down at UConn with violations or Calhoun is contemplating retiring. A lot of people were grumbling about this at Pitt this weekend.

I thought the same thing but apparently it is neither.  LaFleur is not going to be a candidate when Calhoun steps down and Calhoun wanted to move his longetime assistant Glen Miller, former coach at Brown and Penn, back into a formal role as a recruiting assistant.

BTW-Villanova is now in the market for an assistant.

Chris Walker is leaving his alma mater to go back to his native Texas to work for Billy Gillispie at Texas Tech.

And it looks like Syracuse could be losing Rob Murphy to Eastern Michigan thus opening another position on a Big East staff.
