Something's Got to Change... Assistant Coaches?
« on: February 21, 2008, 02:08:03 PM »
On the other site, someone mentioned a plausible possibility-- new assistant coaches.  I would imagine the admin would want to keep Quartelbaum since he has some respect/ rep, and ditch Braica and Casey for different/ more experienced coaches.

I could also see a situation where if Norm doesn't go for this, then he will be out.

Anyway, anyone know which coach is in charge of what part of the game?  Who coaches big men, who coaches guards?

More reason to question his skills for the job.  Weren't they at Queens College together?

Yeah, they were.

I think Braica's supposed to be the offensive x and o guy, right?

Bracia is HORRENDOUS..   he has absolutely no business sitting on the bench as a high level Division I Ass't Coach...

Its a joke among high school coaches in the city that he is on the bench...  and is supposedly the "X & O" guy...

The situtation here may be that some Ass't would probably do a better job than the head coach. Q is a city guy,he's very respected and is well known. Casey fr Bklyn, has Tri-State success on the bench and is a tireless worker.  I look at this ,and equate it to a principal who has some what limited leadership skills. On his staff are a couple of Ass't Principals who show loyality, and a great more in creativity and ideas. Some Principals will seek out their Ass'ts  knowledge and others aren't secure enough to.

I could definitely see that, 4redmen; I'm just thinking that the admin seems to really like Norm (and feel that they can't get a head man with the same qualities and skills), so I'm thinking of what might improve this team.  Q gets much respect, indeed.

Q has coached at UNC, ND, and a few others.

I agree though if we keep Norm perhaps some better assistants would help

Quartlebaum was that nutcase Doherty's right hand man for the one year at ND and the nadir of the UNC program.
