Im glad someone is recognize the work he has done. He really has done a great job getting this team ready despite the circumstances with Lavin's health.

Read that piece on Dunlap and it's great. Coach Dunlap deserves it all and more.

He has done a great job. It would suck to lose him. But thank goodness we have him now.

I was....

A) Stunned we got Mike in the first place.

B) We still have him this year.

I can't BELIEVE no D-1 team pulled the trigger on him as their head coach these past 4 years.

Seeing some of the "promising" coaches who have landed gigs, I'm just stunned.  Mike is a proven CHAMPION (albeit at a lower level),  and a freaking defensive genius.

.

I really think his understated personality might hurt him.  He doesn't have that lead man charisma with the media that a lot of programs want at the position.  It's unfortunate for him but good for us.

Not saying it is the case with Dunlap but some guys make great assistant coaches but not great head coaches and the big-time programs may believe this about him. Remember Arizona had him, knew him but would not give him the permanent gig and he interviewed for a number of other less high profile D1 jobs and so far as come up empty. I for one hope he is happy as top assistant under Lavs because I am happy to have him with us.

I'm hoping it's a case of him tightening up in interviews and that he stutters, blinks, and twitches uncontrollably. I want him here for the next 20 years. Is there any money available for a $100,000 raise?
