There seems to be no middle ground fans other than myself and maybe a couple of other posters. Everything is either honky dorey or the world is ending. Things are pretty bad now. It is ok to accept that truth. If Lavin is def coming back I think we will be fine. It is safe to say that the uncertainty has affected next years recruiting and even with Lavin's return next year won't be as great as we all would have hoped but will clearly be better than this season. Predicting all sorts of potential disasters are silly but so is the Kevin Bacon from Animal House" all is well" posts. Bottom line if Lavin comes back we will be fine but right now things are pretty crappy.

It's true that if Lavin comes back, we'll be fine, but if he doesn't come back this year, what's going to convince recruits and fans that he will?

As it stands right now, recruits are uncertain about coming here, because they have no idea when he he'll return.
Fans are pretty pissed, because the athletic department stole their tickets and sold them for personal gain.

A lot of answers are needed before everyone will be in good spirits over this program. Slice it any way you want, 10-16 is 10-16.

At this point I think most of can agree that coach's Plan A for recruiting is probably long gone. If he can get one more impact kid and restock the roster with some capable JUCO/ mid level recruit kids we will be better next year as long as nothing unforseen happens with the current roster. Once coach is back I think recruiting will pick up and we will be back on track. But yes next year probably won't be what we had all hoped. Everything gets moved back a year.

If he had just recruited a couple of big dudes for this season, we'd at least have a shot at the NIT. I said last year before Pelle and Sampson didn't qualify, that he was taking the front court way too lightly. As long as we don't see these mistakes repeat themselves, I think everyone will be fine with the rebuilding season/or practice season being just this one year.

Perhaps it is just a case of passion making people want to post.   People who feel very strongly one way or the other are much more likely to post what they feel.  For most of us, being in the middle doesn't exactly make us want to start five new threads.

I think there are a lot of people here who think that the results aren't great right now, but the future seems bright as long as Lavin is our coach.  I think many people have patience with the rate of resurrection of the program from the mid 90's.   I just don't think everybody wants to yell from the rooftops about it.

Wasju, nobody thinks things are fine.  People just need to be a little more patient  with a new coach rebuilding after a few setbacks.

1. My buddy Mr Taurausi actually started a "positives from last night "post on the other board. As far as I am concerned the only positives from that game was that everyone made it out alive and Linsanity was on so I could stop watching the SJU game.
2. I post that I am starting to entertain doubts about coach coming back and I get accused of all sort of things including being a certain Sean Evans loving poster. Personally I think there has just been too many mixed signals about his return and I started doubting if he is coming back.
3. If anyone questions anything about Lavin's return or Dunlap's coaching some posters attack them like a female Gorilla protecting their young.
4. If anyone openly wonders about the lack of commitments from recruits or Harkless pro aspirations they are accused of being too negative. Those are both valid questions, no?
5. People who question how long Garrett sticks with basketball when he has a 96 mph fastball and $1mill signing bonus are also bashed.

All of the above are valid questions for a struggling program. I can understand getting angry with people who are starting rumors and not naming their source or question Lavin's health. But with the season we are having there are questions surrounding the program that will be asked on a fan forum.

The most disturbing by-product of the misfortunes that have bedevilled this team has been the sanctimonious and self-righteous posture adopted by some posters towards those who have dared to openly address and discuss these questions.
