Sad to here.  Got to know LeRoy a bit when he was with the Lakers back in the mid Sixties.

Funny, considered a "joourneyman" kind of a player historically, but with the 16 pts 12 rebs he put up with the early Blazers, the 15/12 he put up with the Bullets, and the 12/9 he put up his last year with the Lakers, and the double double (10/11) he had with Philly in his 12th year in the League,  he'd be considered a freaking STAR by todays standards of center play.....10 pts and 8+ rebs averaged for 14 seasons.  Guys who sustain 8 boards a game and double digit scoring for that long pull down 15 Million a year these days.

Nice assessment, CR. Of course, when you played alongside Elgin Baylor and Jerry West in those days, your point production was guaranteed to be limited (look at Wilt's numbers), and concentrating simply on rebounding and defense, it wasn't surprising you'd get the "journeyman" label (especially when you regularly lost to the Celtics in the championship series). Without a question, SJU's greatest center and, equally without question, a much underrated and under-appreciated pro.
