I think Jones will average 2 ppg, and any publication that says he will be our best newcomer should immediately fire their editorial staff. That's my prediction.

2 days ago I would've said the same thing.    But I'm with Posion, coach talks and I listen.   Doesn't prove anything, but it's as good a predictor as anything.

Today I read this on ESPN:

"Christian Jones has probably been as consistent as any player on the team," Lavin said. "With his playmaking on the interior, his brute strength at the rim in terms of finishing, his nimble feet, his speed to run rim to rim, his ability to get above the square and flush 'em home -- he is really, really special."

Jones, a 6-foot-7, 222-pound forward, was the final player of the recruiting class to come aboard. "He’s gonna be a real treat for our fans to watch," Lavin said. "We didn’t know coming in the degree he could help right out of the gate."

Now, coach likes to talk up his players.. there's no doubt about that.   But, there's got to be some substance behind comments like that.   He could have easily said  "Jones has the potential to develop into a very good player down the line, coaches will regret not recruiting him".    But, he didn't talk about down the line, he talked about right out of the gate.   That tells me something.

Yes Lavin talked up Hardy and Browlee first year and we see it came to fruition.  Also heard him talk up Malik Stith and Nuri as well last year.  That didn't work out so well.  Lavin hasn't done anything yet to really make us doubt him just yet.  It will happen but as of now if he's touting Christian Jones I'll buy it.  In the limited skewed Midnight Madness I saw more than Sean Evans and thats what I went in expecting.
