I've seen branch a few times. I think he is a more steady pg but I think Phil can create more and is way more aggressive
Respect your opinions but how do you create less than zero?

Not to put words in Kob's mouth, but I took "create" as create his own shot not for others

When discussing a point guard and you use the word create I take it to mean create for others-to create for oneself you would refer to him as a scoring point guard but I guess I cannot be sure what Kob meant.

I agree, but seeing as Phil cannot pass I assumed that was the only logical conclusion

Guess only Kob can clear this up.

If and when Sanchez suits up I think you see a starting lineup most games with

Greene Harrison Garrett Sampson Sanchez

Branch Pointer Obekpa as the main rotation subs

Felix Marco and Jones used as needed

Gift and Max the hooper looking snazzy in their diff colored warmups

I think you see LJSA, WASJU, MCNPA and FOAD holding hands and singing KUMBAYA before you see Sanchez in a SJU uniform

If Phil Greene is still handling the point 10 games from now branch was a bust

i'd be shocked if branch is as good as advertised.  that being said, the team will be better because you can't underestimate the importance of having a point guard.  right now, we really don't have one.

Why would you be shocked that a Top 50 HS player was as good as advertised?  Just curious because since the team is littered with Top 100 players.  Is it just the good ole pessimistic STJ fans viewpoint?

i'm not pessimistic.   i said we'd be better with branch.  i saw a couple of texas a and m games...including the one against us and branch wasn't the star everyone thinks he is.  with great coaching, he could be.

same with sanchez.  he wasn't a rebounding machine at monroe...the competition is tougher in the big east.  how does that translate into him being a savior on the boards IF he ever gets here.

just a reality check.

Depending on the order we are standing in, it may work.

I agree. He wasn't brought in to be a backup.

You said he'd be shocked if he was as good as advertised.  Not sure besides our game what game you saw with Branch but he played 10 games as a freshman under a coach he didnt originally commit to.  I wouldnt be using that as the benchmark to say I'd be shocked he was as good as advertised.  He might bust.  He might be good he might be great.  You see from my thread on Branch the Top 25 rankings of PGs are all over the place, and that was just this years stats.  Some were non existant as freshman and matured and are playing better now.

Seems like some on this board are judging the kid over the first few games of his freshman season, where he didn't even play all that much. That doesn't seem fair. I'm going to expect to top 50 recruit until I see otherwise.

Hard to believe we haven't had a good one since Barkley. Hatten, Showtime, and Hardy did good as combos, and Harrison and Phil trying to get it done, but not like having a real good PG. I guess I'm leaving out Cook, but him not even coming back for a second year really ruins his stay here altogether.

Do you mean create his own shot or for others? I love when he penetrates and hits one of his automatic teardrops...Unfortunately, he hasn't done much in the way of creating open shots or layups for others especially in the 1/2 court...seems to yo-yo back and forth at the top of the key...

All in all, very good player...but we need a distributor/leader..in which case Phil's game will be enhanced
