Who are the idiots that write this stuff, but they list the top 25 players at each position. D'Angelo and JaKarr are not even listed. Are you kidding me?

Jakarr should be probably be listed, but I can't say that I think he's a lock for that. There are a lot of guys that put up his numbers.

They picked Butler for 3rd, with the knowledge of the Roosevelt Jones injury.  That's something that I just don't see happening.

Would you mind giving a run down of the rest of the BE rankings? Butler at 3rd is just dumb even if they made that pick before Jones went down and Stevens left.

No one saw us as finishing third in big east back in 2011. Obviously the talent and pieces are a bit more apparent here, but we just have to earn the respect like we did back then.

Creighton is 1? That's crazy. I expect them to get housed in the BE.

This is going to be a really awesome basketball season as it will be a great experiment. Major conference teams always say such and such midmajor would get killed if they had to play in a major conference day in and day out. Sure they can win a game or two here and there in a single elimination tournament, but over the course of a major conference season they'd get crushed. Well for the first time we can actually put that hypothesis to the test. I can't wait.

I completely agree. We will have our answer. I'm still pretty sick over the BE breaking up. I have a hard time accepting that Creighton is in the BE.

Absurd expectation.  They won a freaking tournament game and return one of the best player in the nation.  They return 7 or their top 8 players.  They beat a Big East team in the first round...as in ended their season.  Go home.  Career over for some.  Creighton is capable of beating any Big East team on any given night.

I think it is equally absurd to have Butler (post injury and post Stevens) coming in third.  Nova, Marquette, Creighton, SJU, and G'town are all top 25 caliber teams and Providence is the wild card to end all wild cards.  Xavier will also be very tough.  No way, IMO, can Butler hope to finish top 3.

I didn't say Creighton wouldn't have a good season. But IMO, that's what it was. A good season. Selling them in as the 1st place BE team in their first season is hard for me to believe. They had 3 legit wins last season. Wichita State twice, and Cinci. We'll see how they handle the higher level of talent.

We'll get our answer, but I think playing athletes night in, night out will wear on these guys. I like the way we match up with them.

I have to say this is all pretty exciting. Back in the 50's and 60's the Midwest sent in teams to play in the Garden festival and NIT and they always acquitted themselves well against the then gold standard of college basketball. It was no fun to face Bradley, St, Louis, Creighton, Dayton to name a few and we, for one, always had our hands full.  They always came up with 6'10" guys from the farm who could play like pros. An awful lot of them beat us but we got our share of wins.
This season is going to be a constant showcase of great talent from the entire north east quadrant of this nation. The new guys are going to be surprised by the intensity and speed of our play  and we will be in shock , as we were 50 years ago, by there size, skill,  and teamwork.
It is going to be a ball and it is going to make the BE better and more fun than before.
The state sponsored schools with the limitless sports budgets are gone and it's now back to the old days when you got your kids together as best you could and competed against equals who would surprise you  more often than not.
Be prepared for lots of surprises this year. It's going to be as good as it gets.

Whoops! Sorry about the "there" instead of "their".  Dr. Blaise Oppulente, professor emeritus, SJU,  would have been  pissed at me for the  carelessness.

In their annual Big East preview, the college basketball scribes at Lindy's have projected the Johnnies to end up closing the year in the sixth position of the league standings. Though the Storm's unbounded talent is accounted for, it is claimed that the team will still be too young and inconsistent to be a top contender.

Sorry, I'm not buying the young and inconsistent argument anymore.  Branch, Greene, Harrison, and Pointer are all juniors.  Sanchez and GG are seniors.

Too much experience on the team to use that as a defense anymore.
