2014 Class
« on: October 28, 2013, 01:32:06 PM »
Do we have any targets left in the 2014 class that might be remotely considered high level players..?

I have no idea, but I get the feeling that we will need to go the transfer or JUCO route to fill any pressing needs going into next year...which I'm fine with..

2015 seems to be the focus.

this staff is very good at getting expectations as low as possible then surprising with big names late.  this said, i cant identify one probable 2014 recruit at this moment.

This has been an era of blind faith as regards Lavin's recruiting prowess.  Now when you examine things a little more closely 2014 looks like another washout.  I don't doubt Lavin's ability in a recruit's parlor one bit but there's only so much you can do with his track record at STJ.  Sorry but I don't award any credit whatsoever for suspending our players.  Only decades of loyalty keeps me on the season ticket list but I've reached the point in life where I believe what I see and not much beyond our W/L record when evaluating the program.  Could just be crotchetiness but I've paid many times over for the privilege.  Right now recruiting seems less than ordinary based on the many commitments I've been reading about and I wonder what the future holds as you apparently do.

You said the same thing last year Bobre, and then we reeled in Rysheed. You'd think by now you'd wait until after the spring signing period ended before going into the same old spiel.

This whole thread was unnecessary because despite whatever purpose it had it was inevitably going to draw out the nice persons who if SJU is not getting a top 50 recruit every week it is the end of the world.

An 80 year blind man could have seen that.

We are in tight with Dick Hurtz and Phil McCracken, bobre should be happy.

above link are WCC highlights featuring Keith Thomas, you will also notice a player named Luis Montero, 6'6' point guard from DR.  He is a player, hopefully SJU going for the 2 for like they did with sanchez and borgualt.  This 2 for would be far superior in my opinion

Giovanni McLean looked pretty good too.  Have you seen any of these guys play?

I havent seen them play in person but i have seen tape on all of them. Mclean is a good player too, a bit short but def good, he is a summer circuit street ball stud a la Dwight Hardy.  I would sign all three up if possible.  I think Montero will end up being a high major recruit who will get a lot of interest from some very big time programs.  With these guys in SJU's back yard they should try to lock them up now.  If only Lavin were around and not in Dallas.

Pretty sure it is a dead period and NABC meeting is usually at the Final Four location.

Thanks for the video. Montero and Thomas are nice looking players.  Can they look this good against big east D?  Probably not but the potential is there.  Montero is big and quick, Thomas' rebound numbers are great
