As I said on the other board-

He has no shot at the NBA next year. That is the point. And he keeps telling the world he is going to be in the NBA next year running PG for the Knicks and the Heat and blah blah blah.

I'd love to see him stick around 3 even 4 years and then yes I bet he can be an NBA player. I understand kids and their families have needs. But if this kid has his eye on the personal prize then he's in for a rude awakening. Look at Christon from Xavier. A better player than Jordan and he was a very late 2nd rd pick who is D-League. He needs to buy into the team concept.

Why is the game meaningless by the way? Because the game is an exhibition we should write it off? What if it was the first regular season game against whoever we are playing and he coasted as well? Others are anointing Chris the next coming against the same team that Gift scored 24 against.

As I said more I see him more I'm not seeing a PG. I loved him playing off the ball in the 2nd half and look what happened. He played a helluva lot better. This isn't based on one game. He's not a freshman. I didn't watch my first SJU game on Saturday. He can make passes sure. But as Doc pointed out that isn't a PG. He has a sloppy high handle, poor decisions in where he goes and too many of these other PG's are quicker than him. I'd like to see Jamal, Dee and him together. That could be a lot of fun.

What did Sampson do?

I got the impression that Sampson's main goal last year was to get to the NBA... A goal he achieved.. Unfortunately, his play on both sides was often selfish and to detriment of the team... One man's opinion

That was Sampson's goal. It is also the goal of every D1 player I've ever seen. Lindsay and Sampson shouldn't be lumped into the same category. When things didn't go as Sampson expected, he picked himself up, went back to prep school and ended up winning BE freshman of the year the next season.

Lindsay was overmatched, and he didn't like being criticized by an authority figure. He took his ball and went home. Sampson on the other hand, except for one embarrassing display in the NIT has always played hard, and shown a great attitude. Now his nba coach says the same thing about him. He seems like the kind of guy who will have a long basketball career. Somewhere.

Branch - PG
Harrison - SG
Jordan - SF
Pointer - PF
Obekpa - C

Branch doesn't even like to score. He's a senior, and if he can take care of the damn ball, we can bring in Greene as a 6th man to spell Harrison and Jordan. I agree that Jordan wasn't looking to run anything other than the break last saturday. A natural point guard would. He isn't a natural loin t guard, but he is one of the only players on our team who can get to the basket.

The question his, would Jordan go for it? Lotta egos on these St.John's teams.

My son's 5 year old basketball team would out rebound this unit

Agreed. I like angry Moose. Misguided anger at our most talented player, but still.

Moose- I know what I wrote. I thought you kind of had similar feelings toward jordan. No question he is talented but think he is given every benefit of doubt from the fanbase.
Also think obelpa gets way to much credit for what he has done here. Don't hate him but he dominated a div. 2 team . Lets see him do that vs Georgetown .
I was also called a fool because I don't think felix should play, smart guys on the board then told me he has a good looking shot . The guy hit 1 basket last year . Last year the same guys called me dumb and I don't understand the game because I didn't think we should play max hooper.  We needed a shooter. Didn't need max. Just like we don't need a guard who is t skilled.
If you say Dom plays dumb, can't argue with u. However can't see how Dom is always hated on and obekpa Is always praised.. They both should and could have played better.
Sanchez took plenty of grief but opekpa didnt. My point that I guess I didnt make that well is besides Harrison , most of our players were disappointing .

If Jordan never plays a game in the NBA, I'm still happy to have him.  I love the way he goes after the ball and how he creates possessions and fast breaks.  He might not be the true PG we hoped for and better as the two or three in our starting lineup, but I'm fine with that.

But, yeah, his route to the NBA will have to look a whole lot like Sampson if he leaves after this year  He won't be drafted this year.  The NBA is much less forgiving to guards with potential than they are with bigs.
