SDS Winston Shepard what could have been

Leading scorer and rebounder for San Diego State. Slight bit of irony that we face him in our first NCAA game in four years. I wish we could have landed him when we were recruiting him back then. He is a good friend of D'Angelo too.

There's dozens of guys that SJU recruited that didn't wind up playing here. That's part of college basketball

I think it's more ironic that Lavin's 1st committed recruit to SJU will be one of the guy's he coaches against in his final game as SJU head coach

Never  thought Polee would develop offensively. I expect him to many 3's throughout the game taunting me.

Pole condition kept him out of title game against Wyoming. Un likely he plays Friday.

In 26 Min/gm, Shepard avgs 11ppg/5.3 Rebs. He shoots 41%, yes 41% from the field and he's a forward. With 0.3 bpg, he doesn't worry me going in to the game. He might get his 15 or so, but we're going to take it to them on the perimeter this game.

Several years ago (I think 3) I sat next to Darrow Garrett, Amir's Dad, at the SJU/Rutgers game at the rac.   At the time we were recruiting Winston Shepard who played at Findlay with Amir.  According to Mr. Garrett there was "no chance" he was heading East. Claimed (and was correct) Winston was a lock for SDSU.

As an aside, he also stated baseball was Amir's job and basketball was more of a hobby.  Glad to see it is working for Amir.

We could have if we gave his dad a job that paid him 25k more than what Puke got him. Maybe Duhon's mom too

No, although recruited it was assumed he would go to SDSU.

Think he was talking about Boozer. Don't think he was a lock for us though we did recruit him hard even taking his HS pg.

Oh sorry. I was at CA when Boozer visited. Never felt he would come though.

I stand by my job comment - we should have gotten his dad a job on Wall St. No one would have flinched...they didn't for the almighty K
