Poison, you are taking this really really personally...Take a breather or a break. Criticizing and Judging (saying he is gutless) the character of the greatest player in SJU history who came home on his own accord is over the top...
1. He gave up a great life in the Bay Area for him and his family to move back to Queens to make SJU great again....Oh yea he is also putting his legacy on the line as well. I am pretty sure he is willing to work hard and give everything he's got to this program.
2. Him and his staff probably have reviewed all options or still exploring all options that are on the table...Flying out there for the sake of it seems pretty damn stupid and a waste of time...Trying to show up the NCAA really seems like a great ideal for the hell of it....Especily right before your all rookie team is having their first game.
3. This has been repeated a 1,000 times and it still needs repeating...From the coach on down this is a brand new team that we have no ideal what their capable of...that first game against an actual opponent was a wake up call for everyone...Just because someone looked good in practice doesn't mean it translates to an actual game...No, I don't think Mullin is blowing smoke in our face when he thought the team and players were making really good progress. He now has something to base expectations on.
4. It took until halfway through last year for this board to really turn on Lavin. There were some people who started not liking him earlier, but overall most people were still on his side...The rumbling and grumbling over Mullin seems silly (as it been stated 1,000 times before) that he had to build a completely new staff and class in a very short amount of time. We don't know how good or bad this team really will be, what we are hoping for is gradual improvement. It probably will be much worse before it gets better. Fans gave Lavin time to adjust (he had a roster full of seniors, and coaching experience, and a full year to recruit), why can't Mullin have the same thing.
The NCAA ruling seems very silly if not stupid for the simple fact that he can practice but not play...The fact that he can be in practices but not play is a very mix message indeed. It's like suspending Johnny Football for half a game...If I'm Marcus I would do what he is doing and fight it, because the NCAA ruling is clear as mud...for Mullin to focus all his time on one thing seems like a waste of precious time...
It took the NCAA this long to come up with this type of ruling. You really think they are now going to make a quick decision. to reverse their ruling? You really think Mullin huffing and puffing at the NCAA, and Marcus lawyer is going to make the NCAA flinch all of the sudden? If there is a way Mullin will find it but for now...You have to relax and find a hobby, because if you're this worked up before the season starts, you may end up in an asylum before the end of the season.
