Try going back to the store where you purchased it.  I highly doubt Microsoft will help you, but you ought to try.

I swear these kinds of things have (short) shelf lives.  Seriously.  They're made to break!

Microsoft has granted a one year warranty on any Xbox with this malfunction.  If you purchased it within a year, you might be able to get it fixed for free.

He bought it two years ago.  I doubt they'll honor it.  However, rather than spend the money right away, it's certainly worth a shot!

Don't know if i AM TOO LATE BUT  ???

November 30, 2007 - In July of 2007, Microsoft announced it was extending the warranty for all Xbox 360 consoles to three years. Many rejoiced. Those who did the most rejoicing were those who saw the dreaded Three Red Lights of Death. IGN has its own 3RLOD - Hilary Goldstein, Erik Brudvig, and Nate Ahearn. This is your IGN Xbox podcast team. Today we are also joined by special guest Daemon "Scoop!" Hatfield.
