Recession for some...Boon for the Redmen?

maybe an economic slowdown will help turn the Redmen around?  Maybe this explains why Rutgers is recruiting so well...Gotta love the cheap gas in Jersey :P

Notre Dame coach Mike Brey brings up an interesting point - with the growing gas crisis, recruiting could become more regionalized than ever because parents want to see their kids play in college.

When you're a kid from New York and you do it in New York, that lasts forever!

how many parents do you think drove to louisville or memphis from here?  they'll save gas by watching their kids on tv.

it won't have an effect...but I find it hilarious that Hoops thought it was fit to print.

Seems like a ridiculously short-sighted view

-Parents, who have put in a substantial amount of time and money sending and in some cases going themselves all around the country for hs and AAU events in order to have their kids get a full scholarship in college and be in a position to make money in a professional league or, through alumni contacts, get a decent job after graduation are going to be so dramatically effected by a $2-3 hike per gallon in their expected cost of gasoline.

-At the high-major level, so many games are on television.
-Why short change your kid in his long-term potential future earnings and basketball or life development for the sake of a change in the price of energy?
