I wouldn't count skate/snowboarding as a sport...its more in the mold of a figure skating.  Anything that needs to be "judged" is not a sport in my book.

so you really think Gymnastics is not a sport..?

No I don't think its a sport...any "sport" where a judge can randomly pull a number out of the sky to determine the score is not a sport in my VERY humble opinion.

It doesn't mean I think its easy to do...or that its not hard...just doesn't qualify as a sport to me.

what about the world series of poker? to you consider that a sport being that there is no 'judge' randomly pulling a number out of the sky to determine the score...

No...no physical exertion involved.  I guess we have a lot of snowboarders on here...no offense intended.

You will promote a black man at all times and give absolutely no respect to the one white athlete of this generation on this list...  unbelievable...

You outta line, son.

Tryin to paint me the racialist when I aint criticizin the brother cause of his skin color, Im criticizin his inclusion on this here list cause his “sport” is hella lame.

Anyways, this here is JJ's house and I am a guest. So Im gonna refrain from schoolin' you like Miss Crabtree done Spanky.

Instead Im gonna have a civilized debate with the men on this here board about tru athletes who deserve to be on above some skateboarder. And oh lordy! They is some white folk there sir! Guess this here racialist Choz4Life has done turn his life around! (That there is sarcasm for the irony-free minds).

Anyway, here is my case fellas. Y'all know the names and what they do in they primary sport but this is what they do in they other sport. In no particular order:

Danny Ainge: Play four years in the majors wit Toronto

Allen Iverson: Led Bethel to state fball championship. VA playa of the year. Major DI QB and DB recruit.

John Elway: Drafted by Royals and Yanks after hitting 361 and pitching at Stanford. Hit .318 in 42 minor league games before giving up baseball for pro football.

Randy Moss: Won West Va's Mr. Basketball title twice, and won state championships in the 100 and 200 meters in track.

Dave Winfield: Won a Big 10 championship in bball at Minnesota. Drafted by the SD Padres, the Atlanta Hawks, the Utah Stars (ABA) and the Minnesota Vikings even though he aint ever play college football.  Only person to ever be drafted by four teams.

Brian Jordan: Atlanta Falcons, St. Louis Cards, Atlanta Braves.

Tony Gwynn: Dropped more dimes than any other playa at San Diego State and was drafted by the Clippers.

Marion Jones: Led UNC to the NCAA championship.

Tom Glavine: Drafted by the LA Kings ahead of  Brett Hull and Luc Robitaille.

Now that Choz goes into his list I can see his point about Shuan White however the way it was presented before could have been interpreted in a couple different ways. It is hard to gauge tone on a message board and sometimes things are misinterpreted. I was impressed with Choz's list and I agree some of them were better than some guys listed in that article's top 10.

First and most importantly.. I am not your "son". My father passed 14 years ago an he is the only one who can call me that..

Second. . no one questioned the the list as being accurate or not..  and no one said it was the definitive list of the best two sports athletes..

You made the "mott haired skate boarder" comment and said he didn't serve to be on a list with Jackie & Jim...

If your comment was not a shot at the white guy then why use a comparriosn to Jackie Robinson & Jim Brown. .  why not just leave it at "why a skate boarder"..     you gave the post the racial spin, not me...

As for you being a racialist..  you said that, not me...  I never accused you of anything... we can only go by your words and a lot of your posts definitely have the spin. Whether it is intentional or not. .  I can't say..

I see where Choz is coming from and respect his opinion. My opinion for the stakeboarder I respect him because that sport is about skills and talent and not the average joe could do it. I used to play three sports in high school, basketball(point guard), baseball(Pitcher) and track and field, in track I received a few scholarships so I was pretty darn fast, so i know where choz coming from. All 3 sports was hard and a lot of training and get more respect in but skateboard is not much training and hard work compare to the 3 but for me I respect what they do, it is what it is.

How can you say there isn't much training in skateboarding? This is the ignorant comment that PMG got upset about with Choz. There is a hell of a lot of training for that. Maybe you should check into that before you make such a blanket statement.

I'm sorry if I offend you or anybody else. Maybe you're right maybe I need to do research in the sport, my question to you? Do they weight train, do they do strength and conditioning? Is the training hard and equal to football, basketball and baseball? I just want to know... I respect all criticism and disagreements.

Let me qualify this by saying that in my house Shaun White is more famous than any of the other guys mentioned in this thread.  Of course my kids are young and growing up in LA so that has a lot to do with it.  The fact that we're missing the X Games this weekend due to a poorly timed family reunion in NY for my wife is looked upon as far worse than missing the Super Bowl (good thing I got them tix to Tony Hawks Boom Boom Huck Jam later in the month).

That said.  I think the biggest issue with calling the Flying Tomato a two sport athlete is that the two sports are pretty similar requiring the same skill set and basic maneuvers.  Not saying they are exactly the same but much closer than say baseball and football.  The training would be very similar as well making it easier to excel in both.  And yes these guys train a lot or at least my step-cousin did when he was a pro.

is ariel snowboarding a sport..?

what I meant is...in boxing you can win by knockout...not that you can get hurt...

I'm kind of surprised I'm in the minority(no pun intended ;D ) here.  Do people really think figure skating is a sport?  Again..I'm not saying its easy...or that I could do it...but definitely not a sport.  I consider skateboarding, figure skating, gymnastics, synchronized swimming all in the same category.
