The Rockets' deployment of Ponds in their 3 Summer League games has been bizarre.  Never mind playing point guard, he's barely even been used at guard and is often the third guard/small forward who is all but ignored in their offense.  Clemons and Chiozza are blatantly ballhogging in trying to improve their own prospects.  While Ponds has been given significant court time, he barely even touches the ball for long stretches.  Seems like very strange use of a prospect that Houston coveted and sees as a future point guard.  All in all, NBA Summer League ball has been dreadful.

Nba basketball is dreadful.  Why should summer league be any different?

To us, Walden is the one of the best guards we've seen. To the show, he's just another small cog in a large, money making wheel.

Clemens is a black hole. He has a trash game. No one else can get into any kind of a groove with him hogging and forcing.

Attack basketball, pressure defense, 40 minutes of hell ... Early on it might be 30 minutes of hell, then 10 minutes of what the hell are you doing?"

Coveted and future point guard are a bit strong. I figure the teams fill these summer league rosters looking for someone to shine. There are not going to be many spots open on the roster unless you were a high draft pick or just killed it like a couple of the young knicks last year. This is a way to stash the G-league. Shamorie will have to make decision - go that route or Europe and possibly never get back like D-Lo.

Looks really doubtful for Shamorie. Got some insight that his deal is only for summer league and at a certain point the Rockets relinquish rights to him.

Theres a chance he gets let go midway through summer league which is why he's getting so much early looks.

What's sad to me is all the people in Shamorie's ear. His social media comments are all talking about how Russell Westbrook just stole his starting spot or whether they can run a 3 guard starting lineup with Harden and Westbrook.

Are they his comments or comments of others about him?

He should fire his agent. Who let’s their kid go to a team that has Chiozza and Clemons?

Shamorie Ponds finishes with 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Throw in a steal and a block for his most balanced game of the summer league. Put the ball in his hands and he's dangerous @HoustonRockets @ShamorieP #SJUBB #NBAsummerleague
