Holy crap.  Unreal.  Powell basically alleges in NJ state court that Willard and SH's trainer lied/concealed a serious knee injury during 19-20 so that Powell would keep playing and Willard would benefit from on-court success with his 19-20 squad, the best one he's had at the Hall.  Willard is named individually as a defendant!!!!

Lawsuit is a joke and will only hurt Powell and will really hurt SHU. Coaches will use this to negative recruit against them hard - even though the lawsuit its total BS

He actually used the word Lottery in the lawsuit filing...  ha ha ha ha

Powell was great college player but never had a chance to be a regular NBA player. He is an undersized shooting guard, plays awful defense and needs to take a ton of shots to get his points. He should have went straight to Europe and made LOTS of money for a long time.

This lawsuit, which he will lose, will hang over him for the rest of his playing career and get him blackballed in parts of the basketball community.

SHU saved this kid - he was 30lbs overweight coming out of high school and SHU saw the potential, gave him scholarship, got him to embrace losing the weight and got him in shape. He was never going to get drafted and is now looking to do all he can to blame anyone and not look in the mirror.

PMG on the money. Powell has some bad people around him and no validity to the claims.

Powell had a 2 way offer from the Bucks this year and fell through. Just sad this will tarnish his legacy at the school and will put mark on him in professional ranks.

The lawsuit seems BS to me.  My only hesitation is that it involves Myles Powell, Willard's golden boy.  No one questioned his character before this -- in fact, he was considered a great kid and class act.  They had a great relationship; he is the player Willard no doubt sells to any prospective recruit.  And now he is suing him alleging Willard put his own career ahead of Powell's.

Then there is timing.  The principal critique of Willard is that he hasn't won anything in the NCAA tournament.  He is a good coach.  He has done a good job after selling his soul to avoid being fired and the second half of his tenure at the Hall has been positive.  But he is a coach who has flirted with other jobs before.  Can one spin a narrative that NCAA success with Willard's best team in 2019-2020 -- when this stuff with Powell happened -- would have resulted in Willard getting a high-major offer he covets?  Or more leverage to get $ from the Hall?  Willard is not above doing what it takes to win (see Tiny Morton).

Again, I don't buy the lawsuit for one second.  As PMG stated, the notion that Powell was a lottery pick is laughable.  He wasn't even a first round pick.  But I bet Plaintiff's are going to sell the whole 2019-2020 narrative and how Powell being on the court inured to Willard's financial benefit.

We’ll see if there’s no validity. People are pretty quick to take the Hall’s side.
