from associated press   NEW YORK (AP) -- Carlos Delgado's $12 million option for next year has been exercised by the New York Mets.
Following a terrible start, the 36-year-old first baseman hit .308 with 27 homers and 80 RBIs in 84 games from June 27 on. That left him with a final average of .271 with 38 homers and 115 RBIs.
New York had until Wednesday to exercise the option. If the Mets had declined, they would have owed him a $4 million buyout.

A lot of people will not like this move but its tough to argue against. .  when his wrist finally got healthy he was one of the best in baseball. It's one year..  and 12mm for the numbers he put up is a good deal in MLB these days...

His defense sucks though...

I guess no Texiera now.  It is hard to not pickup the option after the second half he had.  I just hope the Mets go after Manny now.
