The NHL is a joke for making a big stink over this. Players beat each other into a bloody mess all the time on the ice but this guy gets suspended for this? I hate hockey anyway but this makes no sense whatsoever

I'm just going to say one thing. I'm really happy to be back in Calgary; I love Canada. I just want to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my (former girlfriends). I don't know what that's about, but enjoy the game tonight."

Avery's former girlfriend, actress Elisha Cuthbert of the television show 24 and the movie Old School, is dating Calgary defenseman Dion Phaneuf. She also had been romantically linked to Montreal defenseman Mike Komisarek.

I agree that this shouldn't have been the NHL's concern.  The man said an absolutely ridiculous thing and obviously has some mental issues that need to be taken care of, but there was no reason to suspend him over this.  I think he's just pissed the NHL off to no end with some of his other antics and they were just waiting for this type of thing to happen so they could lash out.

It wasn't just what he said, it was how he orchestrated it.  Essentially calling over all the press in the locker room at the time for some "announcement" and then acting like a complete tool.  While I'm not sure a suspension was warranted the guy is a complete johnson.

yank, you're right.  The man is a disgrace and obviously has some serious issues.  I'm not disagreeing with you on that.  What I'm saying is that this shouldn't be the concern of the NHL.

The term "sloppy seconds" should only be used by adults in jest, and even then only in private. If you use it seriously and in public, you'd better be no older than 15. Any older, and you are a major a-hole.

Although a team suspension would have looked better than an NHL one, misogynistic comments like that portray the league in a bad light so I can see why they stepped in. The guy is a huge tool.

This is so absurd.  Guy should get a bonus for dating Kim Bauer.  Even more hilarious for calling the next guy out.  If any of us dated a girl that hot, then broke up with her, and a co-worker started dating her later, I'm sure we'd make some snide remark or call him out too!  He didn't even do it by name!  Absurd!

She should hold a press conference talking about his small stick and quick release on his shot.

Actually the adults on the board would probably not make a snide remark or "call him out" whatever that means in this context.

I'd actually shake his hand and wish him luck, because a few of my ex-girlfriends were completely bonkers.

I'm sure we all have a couple of those roaming the streets somewhere, although some of them might say the same about me.
