Rude or Not?
« on: February 18, 2009, 12:28:35 PM »
Is it rude if I go to the DePaul game, sit behind the visiting (St. John's) bench rocking a "Fire Norm" t-shirt?  (Some basketball/ march madness obsessed friends made me one last year.  I generally refuse to wear it... but I am considering it.  Then again, the other shirt we made reads "Red Storm Escort Service" in honor of that night in Pittsburgh that will live in infamy.)

I think it would be hysterical and would be very interested if anyone said anything to you.

I say rock it Peter.  For those of us watching it on TV maybe you will get some air time and we will get some comedic relief during the smack down.

If you are one of the few willing to go watch this team, then you should be able to wear whatever you want.

After five years of this, you might as well-there'll be less problems than if you ever did it at CA or MSG.

It's probably more effective and to the point than wearing the
"Can Vincentians Pick Coaches or What?" wifebeater.  ;)

It cracks me up that the fans on all of these message boards still think that their participation, or lack thereof has anything to do with what SJU decides to do.

Peter, I want SJU to fire Norm, too, but all that would do is make you look like a fool. Everyone knows that Norm should be fired, but if the lack of fans at games, and the lack of winning won't turn the administration's attention, your t-shirt won't either.

At the end of the day, this is a University. Maybe not a great one, but these players are still amateurs, and they've been subject to booing, and getting ripped on in their own arena since they got here.

My advice is to wear a St.John's hat or a jersey.

Let the Depaul fans rip on their own coach. He has yet to win a game.

Well said Poison! The shirt wont help the situation and I dont think the players would enjoy seeing it either.

I don't think it is rude at all.  Let us know if you do it so I can watch out for you on TV.

you dont have to ask if it is or not, if u want to, do it...a lot of people on here have their own opinions about what makes someone a true fan or just a complainer, but the fact is, if you still watch the games and also have the strength to post on here every once in a while, your a true fan, and no one has the right to tell you what is rude or not...so bring a torch and a swing a mase at the game with you if you want

Thanks for the input, y'all.  I will probably not wear the Fire Norm shirt but after last night, it's sure tempting...  There will be 300 people at the DePaul game, I'm sure it would be noticed!

If you do wear it, take a picture.  I'll send it to Monasch and Harrington.

Hence the "probably not!" Also, I expect empty seats all over that arena; this isn't the Marquette or Notre Dame games where the alumni of the schools are all in Chicago anyway.

marillac, i can take a picture of it for you to send to Monsach and Harrington.

Please do.  I requested Monasch as a friend on facebook yesterday :)
