Maybe I'm late on the news, but I thought you were Seton Hall bound?  Congrats on picking St. John's!

thanks.  honestly, i was really close to picking shu but i visited on sunday for admitted students day and it really impressed me.  and whenever i thought about college, stj was always in the back of my mind so i took that as a sign.  i decided stj 100% yesterday, and i should be sending in the deposit any day!

and marco, not yet. lol

I had the same kind of feeling with law schools. Thought I was going to go to fordham, but stj was in the back of my mind, had a great visit, and was the best decision I could have made. I hope st johns works out as well for you as it did for me (but better on the basketball court ha ha).

Congrats... Are you planning on trying to work with the basketball team at all?  Manager? Journalist?

Sju gets flack for it's academics, but it's actually a pretty good school and significantly better than the Hall.

I know from working at the student newspaper at Duke that often times the rookies do NOT get the bball assignments ha ha.  I don't know how competitive it is at St. John's but I was stuck to covering Durham Bulls baseball (which was awesome, actually was celebrating their title with them in the clubhouse with Carl Crawford, Rocco Baldelli, etc.) and Duke Tennis.  Then I went abroad and gave it up when I knew I'd never get basketball.  My point here is - if you love journalism, you SHOULD stay on and cover lacrosse or whatever...bc you will rise to bball if your'e good and start as a frosh, and maybe the creator of Johnny Jungle could give you a writing assignment?  I don't know, I'm not offering for Dave, just thinkin aloud!  Sorry if I'm overstepping bounds!

yeah i understand all of that.  i'll take anything they give me.  it is my major, so it'd be a great experience anyway.  i dont expect to get the flagship sport right away, but ya never know.  lol.  and also, i'll still be writing for the bball site i write for now, so i know i can do STJ bball games through that.

i'm just torn on the idea of  enjoying the games as a student or always trying to go as a member of the media.  i know going to games as a student is a great opportunity and it's a time i won't be able to repeat.  but at the same time, journalism is such a competitive field.  any experience i can get is for the better.

I wrote for the torch for a year.  They do a basketball preview, "Courtside," and you'll definately be able to get a player or two to preview your first year.  I covered volleyball as well.

Congrats on your STJ decision.  My family was happier I transferred to St. John's than when I started at Cornell.  My only regret is not going to STJ law school the fall after I graduated.
