Marcus Hopper, a 6-foot-9, 240-pound power forward from Holy Cross High School in Flushing, New York, is one of the underclassmen in the area to watch this season.

Hopper has a nice frame and should be able to score consistently near the rim this season.

"I will keep working hard," said Marcus. Coach Gil (Paul Gilvary) is a great coach. I want to improve in team leadership this season. I want to step up and become it."

Hopper has set some goals for himself as the high school basketball season approaches. "I always want to improve in rebounding," he said. "I want to lead the league in rebounding this season and I also am trying to improve on getting a double double each game."

Several division one programs are watching his progress this season. "I also have a lot of interest from colleges," Marcus said. "The main ones are St. John's University, Georgia Tech, Hofstra, George Mason, Temple, St. Peter's College, Norfolk State University, Northeastern."

Hopper added: "Villanova's assistant coach told me he's coming to watch me play during the season."

So far as of the recruiting process a lot of schools are interested in me the biggest thus far is St.Peter's College, Hofstra, NSU, Drexel, St.John's, Georgia Tech, Howard, George Mason, Villanova is coming this season to watch me play, and a lot of other schools. This season might be interesting cause I might go to prep school instead of staying at Holy Cross for my senior year.
