Looks like STJ and ASU are the draw schools.

Games will probably be at midnight Eastern Time as well.

Isn't Drake a good midmajor?

Just checked...they were 28-5 in the 2007-2008 season but not that good since.

Weren't they gonna cancel the Shootout a few years ago?  They weren't drawing well, and I think they're a tournament that doesn't get TV.

That is one garbage list of teams.  Only the first teams have the potential to be worth a damn.  This is a turd tourney to participate it when the whole roster is seniors - and will be the last real chance for St. John's to go to the NCAAs for a few years.

Somehow they talked Oklahoma into going up this year (and they've lost twice)

The notables...
Washington State
Oklahoma
Houston
San Diego

And next year's teams are worse.   :-[  I guess ESPN doesn't air the tourney so noone goes.  Wish we could've found another tourney too considering the whole team is coming back.

I don't even know what Southeast Louisiana is.  How does that school afford to travel to Alaska?  I only know Southern Utah and Houston Baptists because they're schools that should leave Division I!!  And Southeast Louisiana is supposedly D-I... they even beat Florida Atlantic.

2008/2009 RPI's

St. John’s University                  116
Arizona State University              16
Drake University                       146
University of Alaska Anchorage     ?? D2 ?
Ball State                                244
Houston Baptist                        324
Southeast Louisiana University    195
Southern Utah University           230

I dont mind this if it replaced the NJIT's & Browns on the schedule
Only Houston Baptist and Alaska are "D2" level

When is it ? preseason ?

exactly...hopefully this will be one of those 4 game deals that only count as one for scheduling purposes and eliminates one of our many cupcake games.

I know. But they all count to overall strenght of schedule.

Last year 8 of the 1st 10 games opponents ended w RPI's below 220. (5 BELOW 290 !)

This year, much better... only 4 on sch w 09 RPI's that low--
LIU,  Brown,  Fordham &  BRYANT. (Why we're playing them in December, I don't know)

btw, its nice to see that Stony Brook has stepped up from a
brand new D1 (8+ yrs ago) to a good mid major (09 RPI 173)

Just saying that non cupcake early games are not only better for the RPI,
but much better preparation fot the team & more enjoyable for the fans

I did about 12k in October [Up through VT, NH, and down the Maine coastline for the Fall Foliage (and food) and then headed down to Florida for Miami and Key West for Fantasy Fest, among other little  ;) trips]. Heading down right now to the game tonight at the classic Palestra and another cheesesteak taste test at Geno's and Pat's

This is freakin' hilarious! This made me laugh extremely hard. HBU just moved up recently. Either way, weak field.
