St. John's must keep focus [NYDailyNews]

St. John's got a little taste of the national spotlight this week when they got votes in both college basketball polls for the first time in nearly three years. The players are hungry for more and know the chance is coming Saturday when they travel to No. 6 Duke.

And that's what makes Wednesday night so dangerous. The Red Storm (5-0) could blow their big opportunity if they falter against Stony Brook (5-1) in the 7 p.m. game at Carnesecca Arena.

Forward Justin Burrell said the team is trying to focus on the Seawolves, but confesses it can be difficult when a dream is in reach. Each of the Johnnies chose to come with a desire to restore the program to its once-lofty position and, as he said, "we need one big win and that will be the thing that will put us over the top" and into the Top 25.

"The line is so thin. Coach says we could be great or mediocre and he will not allow us to be mediocre," Burrell said. "You have to be focused. One little slip up and you can go right back to being back to last year or the year before. ...  No one wants that so we'll be focused."

i like to see this attitude!! it seems like the whole attitude n swagg about this team is very positive and a lot different then years in the past

We're just excited about being able to break into the Top 25 if we can get that win," he said. "The sun would shine a little brighter. The birds would sing a prettier song. The girls would be smiling a little harder at us."

Right?  Omari was kind of funny during the press conference as well (at least what they posted on the official site).
