Under ordinary circumstances, beating Duke on its home court might be the toughest challenge in college basketball. But as soon as Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski stepped onto the court Saturday, it was obvious St. John's was walking into no ordinary situation.
The iconic coach didn't make his usual beeline to the home bench. Instead he walked the opposite sideline, exhorting the already amped-up student section - the Cameron Crazies - into a frenzy. "He must be really upset they lost on Wednesday," said blue-faced student William Weir, referring to Duke's loss at Wisconsin. "I always come to the games. I've never seen him do that."
