I guess your beef is the fact Burrell is the only one not to touch the ball in the possession?
I thought he should have gotten the ball when he flashed into the high post however my bigger concern is the fact we still don't know how to play against a zone. We try and run the same damn offense whether we see man to man, 2-3, 1-3-1, etc.
Seriously its not that hard to know where the open passing lanes are in a zone. It's something I learned back in grammar school ball. Look at this screen shot of the play in question.
Burrell needs to be flashing in the high post near the free throw line. He can turn and his that shot with great efficiency. In addition to that Justin is a pretty solid passer so he can hit whoever is running baseline or out to a wing.
I'd have DJ at the top of the key as he can see over a zone, he can penetrate, shoot, and pass. He is truly a triple threat.
Now some coaches might put Brownlee on the baseline having your two perimeter oriented players (Hardy and Omari) out on the wings. However I'd put Hardy running baseline if at all shearly to play decoy and force the zone to cheat.
If you put Hardy on the baseline it forces the bottom guy on the zone to cheat over allowing more open space in the paint or the guy at the top of the zone cheats back. Either way you're creating the more open space in the zone and from there you can pick it apart.
We never use our personnel to our advantage. From game to game I never see us use mismatch opportunities to exploit the other team.
