Mac Koshwal Injured ....Game plan..
« on: January 15, 2010, 04:12:55 PM »
My dead grandmother would say pound them to death with Burrell inside and force then to double and triple him allowing easy baskets elsewhere. This is a real test to see what they do with him. Any faith ?......or more perimeter nonsense.

We'll challenge them to a 3 point shooting contest!!!
Even with Koshwal, and Dar Tucker, they are horrible.

We ate them alive last year. We should beat them into submission sunday.

Still, Norm's teams never play a full 40 minutes against anyone.
We were fooling around with NJIT last year, and Bryant this year. Depaul might honestly be on their level.

Sadly I think you are right.

I don't think it would matter if one of their guys goes goes for 30+. Chris Gaston killed us, but it's not the same thing when the game is never in question.

A few years back Hill would light up good teams and we'd still lose by 30. Like when he went for 30+ in the Carrier Dome. A game, I'm glad I didn't see live.

burrell reminds me of a player we had about 20 years ago...chucky sproling.  he was a guard who was a scoring machine in high school and always looked great physically during our games.  the problem was he never lived nearly up to his expectations.

I would have to imagine the kid regrets his decision to come to St. John's, regardless of any public statements.  He's been misused and mismanaged by our fearless leader.

SYRACUSE  would have been a nice fit.

For who Burrell? He'd be playing behind Mookie Jones, whose playing behind 4 or 5 other forwards

Burrell's lack of getting the ball inside might be on the PG's & coach.

But last year I'll give him off, re: the mask,
but this year his lack of rebounding and drive are on him.

Even factoring in his reduced minutes, his rebounding and
# of foul shouts (& f/t per FG attempt) are way down.

He does not seem as aggressive as his frosh year.

Burrell doesn't post up with a clue.
They should try to get him the ball more,
but I can see why DJ and Horne don't stop at all costs to get him the ball.

He was terrible last year. Now, he needs to prove to everyone that he deserves the ball. Ya know what Justin, you want the ball badly enough, pick it up off the glass.

If you're such a specimen, rebound. Score on an offensive rebound.
That's what Louisville did to us.

Prove to us that you want the ball. Right now, I only see the fire in him periodically. That's what separates him from the elite.

Hey Posion, Let me guess you play or played the guard position.

If he wants it badly enough let him rebound my misses. WOW!!

For our team to get better we need a balanced inside outside game. Burrell is our inside game and our guards need to provide him opportunities. It is about making the team better not filling a stat sheet.

Hey Posion, Let me guess you play or played the guard position.

I played the 4, and only the 4. I averaged 4 points and 6 boards in high school. Not a city school, but my playing time wasn't based on talent, because I didn't have much. I'm 6'2. Rebounding is about effort. Burrell doesn't want the ball badly enough.

If you're going up against Brown, and they're boxing you out on the defensive glass, you don't deserve the ball.

We can talk rebounding or we can talk passing the ball to the post. The topic is passing to your inside player. Burrell posts up strong, fights hard for position all the commentators say they need to get it inside to him. They don't. Talking about rebounding or the nonsense of  saying get a pass on rebounds is d    b.
With the big out on DePaul today.........not rocket science..... pass it to the post.

The problem is, Norm will play a perimeter team to counter what they have on the floor instead of trying to exploit their weakness inside.  We need to dictate the tempo and style of play.

Burrell doesn't post up strong. I see him, and all the bigs just standing around. I've heard announcers say get him the ball, and I've also heard them say, what's he doing 15 feet from the basket?

He should only be out there to set a screen.

I agree, we need to work on getting the ball to the bigs, and Justin needs to get involved, but it is the overall chemistry that's the real issue here.

Let's see if Norm is smart enough to get the ball inside.

I was wrong.  They did pound it inside more than I though they would.  Unfortunately, Coker got into early foul trouble.  JB started off slow but had a good 2nd half.

Burrell only played 3 minutes in the first half.......7 in the second and was the TV selection as PLAYER of the GAME playing only 10 minutes.  How can it get more bizzare.
