The key play was when refs called the bogus charge on Kennedy when we were up 30-20 and possibly could've been 33-20.  Then they come down and convery a 3 point play making it a 7 pt game instead of 13... all down hill from there.

Add to that on the next Nova posesion the REF call anouther block  on Malik that gave Nova another 3 point play. 3 really bad calls that all went Nova's way on our  home court.

I also thought the 4 point balnk layup we miss when the game was 52- 49 really put us in a hole that we never climbed out of

blah..blah....blah.....the only ones to blame for this mess of a program are the fans....simple...you keep buying it...they will keep giving it to you..when you tell the school you dont want the product...they will stop giving you it...

Um, you were at the game yesterday, weren't you? Which means that it's your fault the program sucks. Blah blah blah indeed.

Not to blame the officials, because the better team won, but at the first TV time out there was a shot of Wright, who'd been whining incessantly, having a face to face with Bob Denato. The commentators said it showed what a great veteran official Denato is, letting Wright have his say. On the next play down the court Denato called a ticky tack foul on SJ, and proceeded to call one nearly every time Nova went to the hole. Whereas eg in the second half when Burrell got clobbered -- clobbered to the extent that the officials went to the video replay to see if he'd been punched -- they called nothing.

Been away on a weekend bender but I had some thoughts:

- Our junior point guard had 4, count'em 4 turnovers in the first 4 minutes of play???

- Hardy boyz is so hot he literally ignites on the court in the first half so of course he's sent to the bench?  He comes in after the 1st Tv timeout, Ok, so why is he pulled after that?  He's 20 years old and is not a 280 lb power forward.  Why doesn't he play the entire 1st half, it's 15 minutes.  If you want Hilton on for the defense, play both of them at the same time. Nova was playing 3 or 4 guards at a time anyway.  If Norm was coaching Bootsy, he goes off for 19 pts against Puke.  Nothing was learned from the Cornell game?

- Id be interested to see the +/- hockey scoring for Malik II and Malik III.  In this game with Stith on we gained and with Boothe on we lost ground.

- I love basketball officials.  But that charge call with Prez going into the white Duke transfer when we were up 10 was just brutal and had me up cursing at the TV screen..  You can't call a charge that far under the basket.  He's standing smack in the middle of the restricted area. If that kid puts his hand up he touches the net.  Next play down Malik II gets good position on Reynolds and gets called for a block.  If Reynolds get the star treatment call, why not DJ?  Two basket and ones in a row and what could have been a 13 point lead is down to 5.  Game over.

- Burrell intentionally clobbered with an elbow that should have been a flagrant/Techinical.  You can't miss that in a 3 man system.

- Omari seems to be getting better each game.

- We played from the last TV timeout to the end of the first half like it was the end of the game and we were nursing a lead.  Running the clock for 30 seconds and going backwards to Malik III instead of taking opportunities to the basket.  We needed to go for the juggler instead of laying back.  Play to win,  not like your afraid to lose.

I'm not sure about part of their methodology (when I have more time I'll ask them) but Georgetown blog Hoya Prospectus does some +/- numbers:

As an aside, their numbers have liked Omari Lawrence.  He's going to be good.

He's stocky but he's cut. I think he can improve his lateral speed some but that will come with some more time training with coach Dixon.

My bad, that came off a bit harsh.  I meant game shape. The quickness factor, as Dave said, is not there yet.  Then again, norm doesn't give him enough minutes to showcase anything.  i've heard he played PG in high school? He's certaily not quick or fast enough to play point at this level.  He is a good passer though and sees the court prob. better than anyone else.
maybe i'm just rooting for him to be out PG solution. I think he will be a good player for us,  just not sure of his position.

he is a combo guard not a pure point but he can hold it down for a spell. but norm knows this. omars is just the odd man out this year. him an truck would play point at time for rays. and he played it at south kent. but he isnt a point. he could become one but he isnt yet. dave is right he can improve his lateral movement. and pat will help him at that

i think omari has the quickest first step on the team. his passes are often to good for our bigmen as well. let him play point norm
*wipes ketchup from his eyes* - I guess Heinz sight isn’t 20/20.

Interesting #s. Norm should take a gander at this.

Malik Boothe: -21
Malik Stith: +10

And yet Malik Boothe played most of the minutes in the 2nd half of that game.

Does anyone know where to find the season-cumulative +/- stats?

Nevermind, here are most of the Big East HD boxscores from our games with +/_:

If you notice, Malik Stith has a better +/- when he's in the game that Malik Boothe in basically EVERY game.
