There are some who will only remember that Anthony Mason Jr. didn't turn out to be the basketball savior he was expected to be.

There are others who will appreciate the 1,000-plus points he's scored at St. John's and the dedication with which he came back from two severe injuries, including a hamstring injury that caused him to miss the first 14 games this season.

But Monica Bryant, Mace's mother, and his father, former Knicks star Anthony Mason, will cherish their son's accomplishments off the court, and the obstacles he overcame.

"It's been a very hard year for Anthony," Bryant told The Post. "I don't think many people realize just how hard. But I'm so proud because in May he'll be the first one in the family to graduate from college."
