MSG TIME!!!
« on: March 30, 2010, 06:48:09 AM »
I am coming out of a coma  :D :D :D

MSG here I come!  My brother and I enjoyed season tickets until they became much less enjoyable and stopped.  Time to go to the SHOW again if this truly materializes.  Long time coming!

Lavin will fill it up and the Garden will be rockin!  NYers have been waiting for this.  The other Big East teams better start sweating.  Add a packed Garden to a top tier coach and staff and we have a recruiting machine!!!

How many other MIA people will be there!?

Sometimes it's not being a front runner if the program you love made awful decisions and refused to see what everyone else could see as plain as the nose on their face. Like I said in my other post, the school finally saw the light. This is a product I'll pay for.

Poison.  No need for venom.  I follow the boards and respect the opinions of active posters like yourself.  There are a lot of people on these boards that are always fighting, but in the end we want to see this team succeed.  We all now have an opportunity to look ahead with a very positive future!

I've followed the Redmen for over 20 years.  There is a whole city of fans that will start to return with the School's new commitment.  I'm sure I'm one of many who are excited to start attending again!  Will be great to see MSG filled!

I've never experienced a Saint John's game. MSG has a special atmosphere and I can't wait to go!

Go to the Duke/Cuse/UCONN/Georgetown game next year.  We need all the red shirts we can at those games.

Well at least I went to the Cincy vs SJU game earlier this season which we actually won.  The Garden wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (never went to a college game at MSG). As loud as the building was that day (maybe 7-9k in attendance) the following should blow that away from this point forward.

I have no problem with that. Just as long as your sitting behind me, and everyone else that supported the program no matter what.

When a ship is sinking, the women and children get off first. It's easy to be a Duke fan.

Come on man, that's just unnecessary. I didn't abondon the team either (until the last 2 games of this season) but I certainly wouldn't be hostile towards those who decided stop going to games because frankly I don't blame them. The buzz and the fans are finally back, there's no need for the hostility towards the fans who are coming back because we need all the fans we can get after the pathetic crowds the past few years.

To the new and returning fans....welcome aboard!!!!!

I wouldn't be hostile towards them either and welcome all new and returning fans onto the bandwagon with open arms.

But facts is facts and the fact is that those who NEVER abandoned the program no matter what are better fans than those that did. Simple.

We're all on the same side, but look at things different ways.  By not attending games I and many others "didn't abandon" the team.  More a protest on what happened to the program, with the hope that a change would be made.   If attendance remained 90% full and 10% empty, instead of the other way around, it wouldn't be Lavin time from my perspective.  If you really love something, sometimes you make a hard call and step away.  You may call it "abandoning", but it just seemed like the right thing so management wouldn't think we were happy.

BTW, my turning point was when we got blown out by Maryland at the Coaches vs Cancer several years ago.  I was so confident in the team with the "dream" recruiting class that I bought several premium tickets and gave a few to some Maryland co-workers.  I was waiting for the Redmen to give them a beating.  I was very, very wrong and it was pretty embarrassing....that was just the beginning of the downward spiral.

Doesn't mean I didn't watch games from home or didn't keep tabs for scores online. Deep down we all hoped for continued success even if we disagreed with "management".

In any case, will be glad to be back.  I consider myself a diehard.  I didn't attend St John's but grew up in Queens.

Just for the record also, I DO GIVE PROPS to those who have stayed by the sidelines through all the pain an agony.  You are great fans!!!

That's like saying it's easy to be a cannibal. Your neighbors might be delicious, but only after you've lost your humanity, decency, and self-respect.

I prefer the neighbors medium rare.

Rare. Few and far between.

it's thanks to "fans" like you that norm stayed as long as he did.
he was replaced when the administration looked out and saw the empty seats.
