He is a difference maker type of coach for a college staff. GREAT HIRE

The more I hear and see what this new staff is all about it is hard not to get excited.  I think Lavin was a homerun hire and he has really hired a dream team staff like he said he was.  I can't wait till these guys can actually be in the gym to run practices.  Things are finally turning around

I liked what he said about "discipline."  It seems to be a hint that the team wasn't disciplined in what it was trying to do.  Which is something that made me angry watching them.  Undisciplined screens, poor set up for shooting (and shooting off-balance when it's not necessary), undisciplined passing (especially on the break), undisciplined (but enthusiastic) defense.

He can give the players input on what to work on and drills to work on those skills, even if he's not watching them do it, correct?

I must admit when we first heard about him I wasn't too thrilled but more and more I love this guy.  Guys like this is what this team has been missing for years and he can hopefully improve their skills drastically. 

Question that I've been meaning to ask.  When do the coaches get to workout with the players?  I know they had a couple of weeks right before the end of school, but when can he actually get his hands on the players again?

Of course one of Rico's most infamous incident's as a player (and UCLA team captain) was whacking teammate Matt Barnes upside the head with a stool....Gsot himself suspended for that, but Matt WAS being a jerk.

However, important to note that a few years later, when Matt was struggling in the NBDL and facing a career in Euro ball, the guy he turned to to train him up to get him to the NBA was...Rico Hines.   Matt now is starting the the Eastern Conference finals for the Magic vs. the Celts..

It's come up on the boards (or at least on the web), and I remember when that happened.  Dude got hit with a stool.  That ain't right.  But obviously, they made up from their younger days (Barnes is one of the names Rico drops when he's talking about players he's trained).
