Lavin's vision of a strong staff and a national program is starting to take shape and the camp was a glimpse of it. Each of the four drill stations was run by a top staffer. Assistants Tony Chiles and Rico Hines ran two of them. Recently appointed basketball operation director Maurice Hicks, the former Rice High coach, ran another. Tactician extraordinaire Mike Dunlap, the former Oregon and Arizona assistant who won two Division II titles with Denver's Metro State and also worked for the Nuggets, ran the fourth. Dunlap is in the end stages of negotiations to become an assistant.
