But is this motherf**ker kidding?  The variability of rankings means little - "highly touted," which he uses earlier, should suffice.  What, Harkless and Sampson are going to become crappy players?  At least they made rankings unlike many of the players we've seen in the last 7 years.

The 6-foot-5 Pointer is considered a terrific defender with good ball-handling skills. Sampson and Harkless are rated high but those rankings can change significantly during a player's senior season and their arrival on campus.

That line about players' rankings changing is the one that really irks me. Would love to go back and see if Robbins EVER questioned the rankings of recruits at the time they committed to Norm.

That is terrible. If anything, he should be talking about how Maurice Harkless has gone from 96 to 46 in one summer.

That guy needs to get it together.

I think Rubin was in Texas because I heard his voice ask a question to Girardi during the postgame that night.  And Lenn was covering the Nebraska-Texas game Saturday.

this wasn't negative, but I feel the entire "article" if that's what you wanna call it, was pointless.

It's all old information and it's pretty scattered throughout the piece. He jumps from one topic to another and half sentences to boot.

i agree that i dont think the whole article was necessarily negative, but that one sentence was definitely a slap to the recruiting class that had no supporting evidence or basis.

The funny thing is all of our recruits could potentially shoot up the rankings.  I think Pointer will be an RSCI top 50 guy by the end of the year.  He's going to have a ton of exposure this season and he's already starting to get the rep of one of the best defender's in the class--that is a very unique skill these days.  Can anyone confirm if Pointer is playing on the same AAU team now as Quincy Miller and Deuce Bello?  There would be no faster way of rising than showing up Miller.

Sampson and Harrison are in the 20's in some rankings and I really think they settle in that area.  Harkless is the one I question, but he sure has a lot of momentum going for him and a great school/conference/schedule to boost that #.
