Schedule next year ?
« on: December 03, 2010, 06:36:11 PM »
Next year Lavin can begin to put his imprint on scheduling..
I assume Columbia, Fordham & Wagner were previous committments.
(note I didnt even include St Bonnie, weak Alaska field or Holiday festival)

When were UCLA & St Mary's set up ? Lavin or prior ? Are they home & home ?

I would hope they begin to strengthen the schedule next year.

Replacing 2 of above weaker 3 with schools like:
any of the top A-10 schools (Temple, UMass, URI)
And the year after an SEC or other major conf. school or 2.

It is more exciting, will bring more fans to games, raise our RPI & better test for team.
I for one enjoy a tough Big east well played loss, over a 25pt win over (insert 200+RPI team here)

We are in the Coaches vs Cancer with Michigan State and Arizona.  We also play Duke at Cameron Indoor and UCLA at MSG.

What? That goes against Lavin's "I wouldn't play this schedule with next year's [young] team" statement he made around St. Mary's.  So that's Michigan State, some other big team, Duke, UCLA, St. Mary's? If any team should play LIU, Adelphi, Central Connecticut, and Youngstown State, it's next year's roster. Then again, all the good competition will let the staff know who's for real and who's not....

All of those games were set under Norm's watch.

We have some tough games set up already, so I expect Lavin to fill in with the NJITs and Bryantsof the world.  The kids need some gimmees to build confidence and work on stuff insteady of fighting for their lives for the w.

Knowing his recruiting, that's even crazier.

Please no NJIT's or Bryant's (300 RPI teams)
2 sub 200 rpi teams per year early (not 4 like this year).
Do you think the kids get more going 4-0 vs the Columbia's,
or 3-1 vs  four of St Bonnie, UMass, URI, St Joe, Davidson, Hofstra etc.

And btw when RPI's are computed a loss to a top 20 team gets you a better RPI than a win over RPI 250-300 teams

Lavin already has said this is the toughest schedule he's coached before.  How much higher do you want to raise the profile.  As mentioned there is the CVC and Duke.  And probably UCLA at home but I really haven't seen any confirmation one way or another.  Your going to have to have local schools and an A10 team or two.
