Northwestern is expected to make to the NCAA Tournament this year.

They're not good enough for you?
Now you sound lazy & clueless.

They are good enough for me, I was at the game like always.  I'm just saying they don't have the sizzle or history that other teams have.  Northwestern isn't going to make students travel from afar to pack the Garden and apparently our other fans thought the same way judging by how empty the place was the last two nights.  If you think Northwestern is a sexy matchup for us then you are crazy.  I consider myself an extremely hardcore college bball fan and honestly I had never seen a Northwestern game before in my life and only knew of Crawford and Shurna before seeing them play.  So what if they are in the Big 10, that's like saying South Florida last year should be a big draw because they are in the Big East and have a shot at the tourney.

Huummm.... I seem to remember several talking heads projecting, and still projecting that SJU will make the dance…. Your logic here is childish.

Are you (Poison)  and The Beast the same miserable person? If not, you guys seem to be brothers from different mothers at the very least.

We won the Holiday Festival for goodness sake, can you guys just stop complaining for 24 hours?

Stop picking on just the kids, call out all the fans that did not show. The season ticket holders areas behind the bench was far from sold out, so there’s plenty of blame to go around.

Those of us who really care about the program are there, each and every home game.

I was at the games this weekend. I was one of the students in the student section that you are so quick to criticize. In fact I am one of the students that booed when cobb was getting up, why you may ask would I take part in jeering at an injured opponent, something that is often frowned upon because of the poor sportsmanship? I was booing because in my opinion it was not an intentional foul and I wanted to voice my disagreement with the referee in the only way that I know how.

I'm not going to complain about you Poison and your attack on the students, because I myself am ALWAYS disappointed in my fellow students ability to show up to the games and give our athletes a home field advantage but when you complain about the students, perhaps you should take the time to look in to the problem instead of just half assing it and complaining about it on a message board. The students have the support of NO ONE. The common group of 10-20 students that attend every game are the only ones that are truly trying to get the students involved. The aforementioned ticket distribution method in which students are assigned seating at the Garden clearly is not in the best interest of the students. Why have none of our alumni who have taken such an issue with the poor showing of students taken an issue with the Garden and their obvious disregard for our undergrads. Not only are we treated like trash by the security and ushers at the Garden, but we are also treated as third class citizens by the ticket office who have gone out of their way to split up our students.

Who is to blame in the distribution of the tickets you may ask? Is it St. John's? Is it the Garden? well I blame St. John's and the Athletic Department for not doing more for the average student. I blame St. John's and their Alumni who complain so often about the students but at the same time do nothing to improve the current situation, to satisfy all parties. I blame the Garden who allow all other visitors of their venue at collegiate basketball events to have their own student sections that encompass the entirety of the "Risers" that are located in the endzone behind their respective teams basket.

I am not looking to pick any personal battles in fact; I hope to get to know and enjoy quality St. John's basketball in the coming years with some of you. I am currently a sophomore and I have another 2 years in the student section at St. John's. Hopefully by that time there will be some stability within the student section, and the good times will be upon us. At the end of the day we all are supporting the same cause, and whether you want to admit it or not; if you want to see something changed, perhaps you should get up off your ass and do something about it.

PS: For all alumni threatening to buy up tickets in the student section because students don't deserve to sit there, I'm pretty sure you already can buy tickets in the student section. I've recognized that opposing fans have no problem getting tickets in our student section, so I don't see a reason why the Garden would restrict you from sitting there.

What don't you get about "its winter break and students that dorm that usually go to the games are away"?? Is this a difficult concept to understand??

And quite frankly, after the lack of pride shown from the players against Fordham, I'm not sure if THEY deserved a big crowd.  Lets win some games, get back into the semester before you criticize student turnout.  People don't want to travel to see $hitty basketball.

What came first Theo?

Russell Robinson called out a pathetic fan base as his reason for leaving NY.

As far as it being winter break, fine w me.
They want to skip the game, it's okay by me. But then they shouldn't be entitled to seats during winter break.
Especially, if they have a long trip home to Flushing, or even Long Island. I can certainly understand why the buzz surrounding Lavin isn't strong enough for the SJU student body.

After all, it's winter break, and there is so much for them to do. Like go to the movies, talk on the phone, and do their laundry.

And ya know what, my only reason for this post is to indentify a lack of character.

Losing to Fordham isn't a reason to give up on your team. We've had bad losses, but we've also had strong wins over high majors.

St Johns shouldnt schedule games the same night as Jersey Shore and the Real Housewives of Staten Island are televised
