Have to see the efforts of Lavin and staff taking effect on this group. In the wins and losses this season the team is taking care of the basketball, is getting assists, and taking better shots.

Clearly they are working the ball around much better. Actually they've never worked it around well before.

Still. These numbers lie. We hit a lot of meaningless Threes last year. See RU.

Notice how Paris Horne had his feet and hands set on that last three. I notice all the guys having their hands set ready to make a decision with the ball a lot quicker than years past. They are making decisions quicker yet they are being patient at the same time too.

Great observation Dave. Good for Horne. He's never stopped playing hard, even after losing his starting job.

This was a classic BE dogfight against a team that has been a surprise as well.

At 9-3, we're back on the bubble. I'm watching the post game w Tim Welsh and Norm Roberts. Both may have found their calling.

Getting set before a shot makes a HUGE difference if you look at %'s.  I'm sure Dunlap is all over that. LOL

I feel like teams have to change defenses on us now or they are screwed.  If they stay in something too long we are too well-coached to not improve against it.  These guys recognize new defenses now so quickly when last year they would look like they didn't know what hit them.  When Providence switched to a 1-3-1, without hesitation Hardy called something out, the whole team communicated, and then they countered the odd look with an even attack at the top.

I think Syracuse is in for a rude awakening next week with its 2-3.

I'll take it a step further...a win Monday and we will be ranked!!!!! Imagine that....after the Fordham loss I thought it was over, but these kids are so gutsy and they battle.  I hope we give them a full house Monday.  Everybody wear red!!!!

It might take a little more than just a win Monday, we will have to probably beat Notre Dame too to get ranked, but if we sweep the games next week we could  be looking at a Top 15 ranking.

The team really added to the HAPPY in Happy New Year tonight!!!  A real nail biter but I liked that they could lose a good size lead and fall behind by one and recover for the win.  last year if this happened they would have lost by 6 to 10.  I like the interaction between the players on the floor as they seem to communicate well ending up with some easy buckets.  Last year they through the ball around outside the arc and with a few seconds left someone would heave  a 3; this year they get it inside for an easy bucket.  This team really can't shoot but hit for 52% tonight because they take shots within their range--in the paint!

I also like the interaction between players and coaches.

Look forward to going to Garden Monday with an anticipation/hope of victory; something I have not felt for a number of years.  I just feel the lads have a chance whenever they step on the court.

But it's winter break. How can we expect students to come into MSG when they can stay home and watch CSI Miami? Isn't it funny how WV and Providence had packed houses during winter break?

Providence wasn't packed what so ever. Not even TV cameras could hide all the empty seats

The staff should look at game tapes of the Syracuse/Iona game on how to beat their 2-3 with passes and baseline play. Have Brownlee and Burrell run the baseline, but SJU needs someone to get them the ball.

Syracuse could be the 1st up win this season.

Obviously 'Cuse is going to be damn tough for us, but Burrell could give Jackson fits all game, and Brownlee has destroyed zones all year. Put him at the free throw line and let him do damage all game.

We'll need at least one win over a top ten team to dance. Syracuse is undefeated, but they have to lose eventually. This Cuse team isn't as strong as last year's team.

Put Coker and Evans in to hack up Jackson and Melo, play the zone carefully, and who knows?

Melo and Coker should cancel each other out. Both suck. Triche has gotten alot better and Jardine is always dangerous.
