Great thread Baldi.

I could see Harkless stepping in as team captain as a lead by example guy.

This is the hardest thing to predict.

Obviously, Stith because the only returning player is someone that comes to mind, but captains need to be guys that lead on the court as well, and we're gonna need that.

I'd go with Stith if he continues to improve. And hopefully Nuri and GG show us leadership early because that would avoid favoritism among the kids.

Did we have any official captain(s) last season?  I don't remember.

No love for Harrison?  I think the Parade All American will be the team leader before the season is very old.

Must there be a Team Captain or Captains?

What is the purpose of a TC in college any way?  That should dictate who is deserving.

Picking a TC who has not played a game for the school is hard, as is picking a sub for a TC.

I think a TC should be a team leader both on and off the court.  Right now we have no team leader and probably will not have one until well into the upcoming season.

I can see Coach Lavin either waiting for the BE schedule to start to select a TC or go with no TC this year.

Stith should be the captain.  For one he's an upperclassmen.  Second, he has shown a lot of guts sticking it out with the talent we have coming in here at SJU.  It says something about his character and leadership qualities right there.  Nobody will mistake him for one of the more talented guys on this team, but entering the season you have to like the attitude he has as the lone upperclassman.

I guess MS is the "safe" selection, until Coach Lavin sees which of the incoming players demonstrates "leadership" skills.  I am not sure MS has demonstrated such skills, and sticking with the team is not the same thing as being a leader.  But having said that, it gives Coach some time if MS is chosen.  It also avoids any bad feelings among the new players if one of them is selected, say DH, and another is not, say NL.

The problem with selecting one of our untested (as a team leader) incoming guys prior to the season is you are "stuck" with that choice for a number of years.  We seem to have a few potential candidates, so I would wait before I give any of them the TC title.

You know, based on every thing I have read over the past several months on our incoming players, I can see Sir Dom as a TC in the future.
