Jerry Meyer on SJU recruiting

Update on Rivals.com by Jerry Meyer.  First mention at least by a national recruiting analyst of Michael Chandler:

St. John's, meanwhile, feels it's just a few top recruits away from being a national player again.

THE BIG EAST

Team to watch: Look out for Steve Lavin and his staff at St. John's. It has scholarships to burn and Lavin and his assistants were quite visible on the recruiting trail during the winter. Regardless of position, the Johnnies are on the hunt for talent and they've taken aim at guys such as soon to be four-star high school big man Christopher Obekpa and four-star junior college combo forward Orlando Sanchez. The Red Storm are also in the mix with local swingman Thaddeus Hall, who has developed quite a following thanks to a big senior season. Another possibility with talent is 2011 Rivals150 member Michael Chandler, who has heavy interest in St. John's but some qualification issues to overcome.

Best battle: There is actually a pair of battles among a trio of Big East teams that should be interesting to watch. Providence, St. John's and Cincinnati are all heavily involved for the previously mentioned Obekpa and Sanchez. Obekpa is a shot-blocking and rebounding force who protects the rim while Sanchez is a super athletic combo forward that is at his best in transition. Pittsburgh also has been involved with Sanchez of late while UConn, Rutgers and Seton Hall also are on the hunt for Obekpa.

I get the sense that STJ is the favorite for Chandler if he qualifies

The way that the clearinghouse works with st. john's chandler would get screwed somehow, so it always seems.

It's no secret. He should know by now what he has to do. Blaming the NCAA for him not qualifying is BS. Take care of your business and you'll play.

Chandler would be such a huge piece, for once I hope we can get a questionable player to get his academics in order.
Somehow, find a way Michael.

Players have been told they need to get their grades up, get all As, and still get told by the clearinghouse that it wasn't good enough.

Gotta show evidence of the work when the entire class pulls an A.  Wouldn't you raise an eyebrow?
