Conference Scheduling?
« on: May 25, 2012, 03:07:46 PM »
Re-alignment aside, should the Big East still base their scheduling based on a pre-season straw poll from the coaches in the conference?

For example, Boehim and Jamie Dixon still get a vote this year, even though their teams are leaving the conference.
If you're Pitino or Boehim this year and the poll determines who you play twice are you going to vote honestly, or would you put some "underdogs" in your top 5 that might give you an easier schedule??

Scheduling should be very interesting the next few years.   Especially with some of the traditional rivalries (home and away matchups) being dissolved: Pitt-WVU, Syracuse-UCONN, etc.     Does Villanova-Temple become a mandatory 2 games per year?

The league office should try to re-affirm some of the traditional rivalries.  I could see alot of us on this site getting pretty annoyed, for example, if we saw Houston and UCF twice but only a game each against Villanova, UCONN etc.

That came up 2 years ago when Pitino voted us 1 to give his boy Cronin some help.
