Final 2012 RSCI Rankings are out

Jakarr is listed at #79, but that's misleading.  Of the six ranking groups that comprise the RSCI, only 2 rank 5th year/Prep guys with their high school rankings - and the RSCI ranking is an average of those 6 individual rankings.   The two that actually ranked Jakarr had him at #36 and #45.  So project that out, and he's pretty much considered a top 40 talent.

Question tho.  Anyone know why Mitch McGary took such a hit in HIS rankings?  In the Summer 2012 RSCI he was #3 overall.  In the final rankings he dropped 23 spots (biggest drop of anyone) down to #26.   I mena, Jeez, his team only went 33-1 this year.  Did teammate Jakarr stepping up knock Mitch down?

McGary was initially ranked too high. I liked his game alot but is no where near a top 5 player IMO. I think the recruiting gurus over reacted when seeing him and then realized it dropping him down. Also Brewster was insanely deep so that probably did play a part in it. I believe 7 players on that team committed to D1 schools

He had a huge spring last year and his stock took off.  But his summer and subsequent senior year and All-Star game appearances were apparently less then stellar and so his ranking took a hit.  In the end his ranking going into last summer where some had him in the top 10 when he was blowing up was probably a bit overrated anyway,

Sharing the front court with Sampson and Warren had to hurt his stock.  Both of those kids overshadowed him for much of the year.  Sampson was the NEPSAC AA player of the year.

Because he isn't the 3rd best player in the class. Don't forget he skyrocketed last year

I agree, it's just 23 spots is a pretty precipitous drop!  I mean, there was a reason he "skyrocketed" to #3 last year...
