How does the Harrison twins decision affect us?
« on: October 04, 2012, 05:54:44 PM »
The Harrison twins choosing Kentucky today will undoubtedly have a huge impact on the recruiting scene. With us specifically this will could impact the recruitment of Rysheed Jordan and Jermaine Lawrence.

With the Harrisons spurning Maryland you have to figure that they will increase their efforts to land Jordan. I could also see them going harder after Roddy Peters too. I think ideally Maryland would get Peters, and Sheed would come down to us and Temple, in a battle that we should win, unless he really wants to stay home.

As for Lawrence I heard a bunch of rumors saying he was waiting for Kentucky to offer. But now that they have used 2 scholarships on the Harrisons, and are involved with other top 10 guys, maybe that offer never comes, which would certainly be good for us.

What do you guys think?

Don't know the answer to the thread title question but thought it interesting when one of the harrison twins said that they were at Kentucky more than a week before Mid Night Madness and people were already camping out for tickets. Imagine that-sleeping outside in tents weeks before a kentucky basketball event. What fans but they don't have something we have-fans that sleep during the games. :)

Kentucky is also involved with Parker obviously but also Julius Randle, Aaron Gordon, Vonleh, and just about every other forward in the class of '13.   Maybe they do offer Jermaine, but they appear to have other priorities even after the Harrisons.

It's going to effect in us that they are going to have a ridiculous class and are already being listed #1 preseason in 2013.  Things aren't going to change with UK recruiting unless something comes down on them.  We just have to keep getting ours, and I know that will happen under Coach.

Only things about a Harrison I'm concerned about is our own Harrison going pro after this year and after seeing Moe go so high and us replacing him I'm not even that concerned about anything recruiting wise anymore.

In Lavin I trust

Give SJ fans the best team in the nation year in and year out and you will notice different attendance at SJ games as well.

#1 Jabari Parket cut UK from his list.  Guess even Cal can't get them all.

Jabari and James Young are going to Michigan State.  I have no sense where Julius Randle is going.

Not necessarily - lanky, athletic guy who really Ds up and rebounds.  Might be a good fit with the other 3 and returning guys like Wiltjer and Poythress.  Plenty of offense there + coming in.   My view - inepxerience can still rear up and bite Cal in the arse most years. This is a fascinating experiment that's still ongoing.  I still am of the opinion that UNC has a good chance to take out UK if Marshall doesn't get hurt.

Thought I heard Roy Williams mentioning Marshall as one of the players lost from last years team.

I think what he meant was UNCE could have beaten Kentucky last year if Marshall didn't get hurt in the tourney.  Not this year.  "has a good chance" kind of confused the issue.   Should have been had.  At first I was a little confused as well.
