Man to Man

Correct me if I'm wrong but did we play man the entire game?  I can't recall ever seeing the zone D.

I saw the same thing, Moose. I wonder if this is something we will see a lot more of now that Coach Dunlap is no longer with the team.

I wasn't paying close attention early but def not in the 2nd half.

I was at game and it was man all game.  probably not ready to play zone yet.  easier to teach man than zone but will grow into it as that creates turnovers which is needed for uptempo offense

With the cleaners we have down low, we should play a lot of man to man.  Our guards can be aggressive on D and if they get beat our big man can scare people back out of the lane.

Zone is for girls. St.John's plays man to man. They should never have stopped.

Just as importantly, Sonoma State played us in man all night too.   And for the most part we couldn't make any plays off the dribble. 
Phil had a nice drive, and I think Sampson in the second half.   But if a DIII team is playing us in man, we should be able to take them off the dribble.   
I was surprised I didn't see more of that.   

Relatedly, the pick n roll game leaves a lot to be desired from what I saw.    Picks were loose, and Sonoma State tried trapping the ball handler following almost every pick, and we never managed to get the ball back to the guy rolling/popping.   

I think thats an area Branch may be a big help in, but we've got to get through Nov and Dec first. 

Shouldnt be ignored also was it was exhibition and lots of teams unfortunately play down to the level of comp.  Not to say we won't struggle against D1 teams because we will surely have moments but we can't play the game of well we only beat Sonoma St by 18 therefore we would get smoked by so and so....
