If this team could pass and moved the ball I think he could be a 15 minute guy who could hit a couple threes. But as they say "that dog wont hunt". Combination of Lavin's reluctance and the lack of ball movement has rendered this discussion silly.

This needed to be said, +1.    I'm not sure Reggie Miller would get enough shots to be a difference maker on this team, because the ball movement is atrocious.

They at least started to look for back door cuts last night.   Didn't connect on any, but looking for them is a start right?

but in those 15 minutes he also has to play defense, rebound, dribble, etc. none of which he does particularly well.  those deficiencies in my mind outweigh his potential two 3-pointers in a 15 minute span...

I was agreeing more with We Are SJU's point about our poor ball movement, than anything else.   Whether Marco plays 2mins or 10mins doesn't matter to me, because I don't think we can put him in a position to score.    And like WASJU points out, I don't know if that's on the players or coach.

But ball movement and getting better looks is the next step for this team.    The decision making has to be better and faster.
Think about it- statistically speaking we don't turn the ball over very often, usually get more steals, always block more shots, and lately (for the most part) we've battled to about even in rebounds with our opposition.
So from a coach's perspective... we're getting more possessions than the other team.   And on the possessions they do have, we've really increased our defense on shooters.   Right now we're in the middle of the Big East in opponents 3pt %.   For most of the year we were dead last.

The problem is, we lose ground at the foul line, and beyond the arc.   We get more opportunities than opponents, but we're last in free throw%, and near the bottom in 3pt%.

As much as I complain about it - the defense is largely doing it's job.  We do about as well as can be expected rebounding, and we don't turn the ball over.
Gotta start getting better shots in the half court.

Mr. Jones and Marco Marceau both had great games in their limited minutes.  The former with a block and a bucket and the latter with a 3 and forcing a traveling call with some good recovery defense.   Hollywood is playing them the right amount of minutes and his rotation is working amazingly well as can be seen by the winning streak.  Leave it be.

What is 3 GREAT minutes exactly?

It's when you produce 2 postitive plays in your 3 minutes as each of them did.

Marco made a good play that caused the travel. That is true. It is also true that he is the Slowest and worst defender on the team.

He is also a poor ball handler and passer. Game seems to move much faster for him than with the rest of the team. I am really shocked with what I have seen from him this year. I know Juco isn't the Big East but his numbers were good at Monroe. I really thought he would be a solid contributor at St Johns.

Sorry but I'm not calling any 3 minute performance great.  Semantics on words I guess.

I like Marco and would like to see more of him.  Too bad the offense doesn't seem to fit him and vice versa.

i have a problem with him freezing out bourgault.  he must have one of those sand timers...and when the three minutes are up, bourgault sits.

greene.  he should have sat after that.  he contributes nothing.

Pretty sure he was the 2nd leading scorer with 13 pts and had 2 assists in a tie game (OT) that became a victory.

13 points on 5-14 shooting.  bricked a three and no assists in the OT.  we won despite his performance.

BS.  We lose in regulation WITHOUT his performance.

I've heard your wife say both of these lines.  Thanks, thanks, I'll be here all week.

Are you even married?  I didn't think so but could be wrong
