It was more of an optimist ---> Pessimist scale.

No need to be offended foad.  Surely you would agree.

This squad is top 20 caliber.  The returning players plus Sanchez, God's Gift and Hooper are talented and really deep.  Plus, we are adding a top 20 player who will probably come off the bench.  It's been a long time since that happened.  That said, in all likelihood we have only one NBA first-round pick (Sampson) on the roster IMO (excluding Jordan). Hopefully, coach can use the Euro trip to turn this into a cohesive unit.  A fast start would really help recruiting for 2014 class.

I understand there is a reluctance to buy into the hype.  But let's remember a few facts.

This is the not the 16 team monster league we have had for several years.  This is a 10 team league.

Also no doubt some good teams in the new League but no Louisville, no UCONN, no Syracuse, no Pitt, no ND, no Cincy and so on.

It was one thing to talk about finishing in the top half of the OLD BIG EAST when it was stacked and had 16 teams.

But with SJU easily having its most talented team since the Barkley/Artest days and with the new BE not being as top heavy or with as many teams, no way our expectations should be less then top 3.  Especially with Georgetown losing Porter and Blue leaving Marquette.  Granted both teams should be good again but those are huge losses for them.
Fordham, I believe OOC more important then we have been used too, and Coach Steve will be explaining to the team how important every game is. We always felt that the quality of the conference gave us that extra opportunity to impress the selection committee, we must play all games life and death. I feel we are playing in a top notch conference, but busting ass every game is sure thing way to go. We have done plenty of losing the last couple a years, and we got kids with millions on the line. I don't think I been a Ra Ra guy but feel this group ready to move up as a team.

For me, the expectation is for us to make the Tournament and to make it with relative ease (meaning we aren't sweating it out on Selection Sunday).  Definitely think this group is capable of winning a game or 2 once we get there if we peak at the right time.

I honestly don't foresee a change in the way coach approaces OOC games.  He will continue to use pre conference games to experiment with lineups and combinations that will drive fans absolutely crazy.   It's simply part of his process of eventually putting the best team on the court at the end of the season.

Our best team then must have consisted of a walk on and no Harrison.
